Nick worked an Escalent study with my team, as the 'runner' (that's a real role) for a Cargility study in downtown Detroit. We had a briefing day, then he worked a day in the field wiping down vehicles, setting up tables, tracking the equipment, etc. By 3 PM on the second day he was asleep at the table, but the team is mostly his age (Kelsie, Melissa and Ben) and not mine, so he connected well with the other interviewers. We got an afternoon at the Henry Ford Museum, a burger at Miller's Bar, and then dinner on the second day at Grandma Bob's pizza across from the Train Station. He did well and we appreciated the help. Look forward to seeing if this Cargility unit gets to market, with help from the MEDC, UM and the city's support.
We also took in a Tigers game. Brandi's office had a luxury suite for their team, so Nick and I got seats in right field to be there for her, and then we rode home together.
Balancing a checkbook is not a strength for Nick, who just writes down whatever is on the statement and skips the math part. He was successful with the math that counts, though, getting through the Calculus class at MCCC. He would have had a grade of 'A' but the professor had some subjective rules on showing work, and I think Nick fulfilled the requirement. Now he's back on track at IT, after Brandi had registered him for a NY college in error, he didn't read emails from the school for a month, and nearly had no campus housing until just days before classes began.
We also got the Cavalier delivered to Samantha, so her first car is ready for her.
This summer will be remembered for smoke from the Canadian wildfires and heat and humidity, caring for the killdeers in our stone circle and getting them escorted across to the pond, and of course our last days with Grandpa.
